0098·Quantity is required for sales of goods

Product classificationOccasional

What this means

FBR requires quantity on lines representing physical goods. It is used for reconciliation and for specific-rate calculations, so it is mandatory regardless of whether the tax on this particular line depends on it.

Why it happens

  • Quantity was omitted on service-like lines that were nonetheless classified as goods.
  • A charge line — freight, handling, adjustment — was submitted with a goods sale type and no quantity.
  • Quantity was zero because the line represented a pure value adjustment.

How to fix it

  1. 1Submit a quantity on every goods line, at up to four decimal places.
  2. 2Classify non-goods charges under an appropriate service sale type instead of a goods type.
  3. 3Handle value-only adjustments through a credit or debit note rather than a zero-quantity line.

How Ordyoo handles this

Invoice lines are always tied to a catalogue item with a quantity, so quantity-less lines cannot be constructed. Charges outside the goods model are handled separately.
