What this means
This fires on a null or blank code rather than on an unrecognised one. Practically the two are the same problem, but the distinct code tells you the value never arrived rather than arriving wrong.
Why it happens
- The field was omitted from the payload entirely for lines where it was unset.
- An empty string was sent instead of a code.
- A null propagated from an item record with no classification.
How to fix it
- 1Always include the field, and treat a missing code as a blocking data error upstream.
- 2Do not send an empty string as a placeholder — it fails identically.
