0020·Rate is missing

Product classificationCommon

What this means

Rate is mandatory regardless of whether tax is actually charged. A zero-rated or exempt line still carries a rate — the zero-rate description string — rather than an empty field.

Why it happens

  • The field was populated only where tax was non-zero.
  • A null was sent for exempt lines on the reasoning that no rate applies.
  • The rate lookup returned nothing and the empty result was passed through unchecked.

How to fix it

  1. 1Send the rate description on every line, including zero-rated and exempt ones.
  2. 2Fail loudly when the rate lookup returns nothing, rather than submitting the empty result.

How Ordyoo handles this

Rates are resolved from cached FBR reference data at the item level, so a line cannot reach submission without one.
